Happy Thanksgiving! - Start of the road trip to see mom.
Hello! I hope that this finds you all healthy and happy after a stress-free Thanksgiving! We had a wonderful Thanksgiving week. We had a nice soup night on Tuesday, and then hit the home stretch for hosting a group of 14 adults and two children for dinner on Thursday. Catherine did another fantastic job of preparing the food, and getting it all on the table on time. We started by using the sou vide to cook the Theighs and Drumsticks for 24 hours. Then we turned the temp down, and added the breasts about 1 in the afternoon on Thursday - somewhere along the line the Sou Vide stick turned off for an unknown reason. So when it was time to serve dinner, the breasts were no where near done. Catherine called me up, and put me to the tasks of finishing them on the BBQ, which worked exceedingly well. They managed to land on the platter before anyone was done with there first plate of food, and they tasted sublime. Everyone had a nice hang after dinner, and by 10pm Catherine and I were headed for the pillows, with all but the last load of dishes done.
Friday morning Jule, Kai and Bec came over to help us get the lights up on the house. And the rest of the day was just having a nice casual hang with Kai, which was great. He is heading back to Berlin on Monday.
I spent Friday evening polishing my packing list, and staging some of the stuff I wanted to take on the road trip.
Saturday I liesurely loaded the van, and finished cleaning the house, and left on my roadtrip after Catherine left for lunch with Kai.
I'm going to try and post a summary of every day on my blog. If you would like to read what I've written so far checkout this page (and it automatically updates when I create a new post)
