Ghost is using dark patterns
Don’t you think dark patterns are beneath you?
I just got the notice that my free trial for ghost was up. I think it’s worth $15 a month to me, so I went to sign up for it, and the $15 a month option wasn’t available to me. I spent a non trivial amount of time trying to figure out why, before noticing that only the “source” theme was eligible for the $15 a month program. So I switched to that. And I still couldn’t do the $15 a month program. But this time it was because I had enabled web analytics. So I turned that off. And finally I was able to sign up.
Kind of shady…. But not as shady as mailchimp which added a question between my draft and my post that required a paid upgrade…
