Getting the boat ready

Sitting here on the boat watching the Belgium Grand Prix with Stefan and Alex. At noon we will go to the club and watch the World Cup final.

Yesterday was a beautiful day - we went out on the boat a little after bit after 1 in the after noon to work out some of the boat handling stuff that we are trying (cabin top sheeting, Gybe orchestration, and a go at Cross Shetting). The session was good, and the boat felt good, and the manuevers were feeling good. 

Before we went out on the water, Stefan and I straightened out a spare fiddle block that we had, and did some work on the sheets, but putting a new eye splice in the red sheet, and whipping on some marks for trimming guides. 

When we got off of the water, Jada showed up (My cousin once removed) and hung out with us for a while. 

Schalleen, the race organizer, pinged me and asked if we would be available to help unload her car into the yacht club. Not only did we help with that, but the crew helped decorate the yacht club. Schalleen and her sister were very appreciative, so much so, that they took us out for dinner at Boundry Bay brewing. 

The food and beer was good, and so was the conversation. Schalleen’s twin sister Christine is very proud of her sister. Turns out that they both love the mountains. Christine is a rock climber, and Schalleen is an alpinist, and was actually on the expedition that discovered the body of George Mallory in 1999. It was so cool to hear those stories!

Today we are going to watch the World Cup final game, and then It is opening ceremonies for the Race week, and tomorrow we race!
