Day 2 - West Linn to Crane Hot Springs
I spent last night in my buddy Dan's driveway - he and his family weren't there, but it was nice to have access to the facilities in the morning.
Got up around 4:30, and hit the road just after 5 am, heading towards Burns, Oregon, via Sisters and Bend. I made it until 7 before it was time to pull over and take a quick nap at a very nice rest area. When I got back on the road, the sun was up, and the views were magnificent. Stopped at Detroit Damn to check that out. The reservoir has been drawn way down, and the bare banks of the lake go upstream for miles.
The pass was clear, with just a breath of snow near the summit - nothing to be concerned about at all.
I stopped in Sisters for breakfast at the Cottonwood Cafe, which was terrific. After breakfast, I walked up and down the main drag and checked out a couple of Antique malls and bookstores. While I was in one store, I was recommended to check out Crane Hot Springs, just a bit beyond Burns, Oregon.
In Bend, I stopped for Fuel, and then headed over to check out our neighbors' Bend house, and the ADU project. The ADU they are adding is as big as the house! From there, I went to the last Blockbuster video store on the planet and grabbed some pictures while I walked around and reminisced.
From there, I headed towards Burns and arrived at the Crane Hot Springs around 3 or so. This is a great place to spend the night, and the hot spring spa is just fantastic. I spent an hour in there this evening, and will hit it before I leave in the morning.
Tomorrow I head towards Winnemucca - I'll spend some time tonight figuring out what I might do tomorrow and where I should stay.
