Day 18-20 driving home with Mike Huck
A three-day push north from Eric and Maggies: rainy highways, then blue-sky Oregon coast, a final night in Seaside, and home to Catherine. Van cleaned and ready. Includes trip stats: miles, mpg, best/worst tanks, fuel total.
Well, that's a wrap - the last three days of the trip were pretty much a bomb on home. Mike and I got up on Tuesday, Eric made us breakfast, and we said our goodbyes to Eric and Sahale and started the trip north.
The weather was pretty crappy, so we didn't make many stops along the way. Tuesday saw us heading up Highway 101 to Brookings, where we had a hotel to spend the night. Wednesday morning, we continued our drive up Highway 1 in glorious weather. We had some spectacular views of the Oregon coastline. Man, that never gets old. Wednesday night, we made it to Mike's place in Seaside, Oregon. We watched the latest Knives Out movie and then headed to bed. I ended up sleeping in the van since the furnace wasn't working and it was cold in the house, and the heater kept me super toasty.
Thursday we finished the push to get home. I dropped Mike off at his place before coming home. It is good to be home with Catherine.
Friday I did a deep and thorough cleaning of the van, and it is now ready for our next adventure.
